(More customer reviews)I apologize in advance for the long review, but I have a lot to say. Sometimes you have to take the time to praise a great product, especially when all you see is a picture, and the actual item is so much more.
I've been looking all over for a special, unique Star of David to give to my Son and Daughter, ages 12 an 18. I wanted to give them something that they would wear and cherish forever.
I was surprised at how hard is it to find a nice Star pendant. I bought several ones online and had to return them all. They were all to light and cheap looking. When I finally searched on Amazon, this pendant just jumped off the screen as it looked like nothing I have seen before. They offer the same pendant with a black cord, or with a custom silver chain for $30 more. I ended up getting both.
First I ordered two pendants with the plain cord, and they arrived very fast.
I will start with the presentation as it is the first thing you will see.
You get this large, elegant, high end jewelry box. Just from the packaging, it looked like I got something really special and spent a fortune in a fancy jewelry store.
Now...when I opened the box, I could hardly believe my eyes. I remember just thinking WOW! The pictures really don't do justice to this work of art. The Star is almost lifelike. From each angle, the detail work is very impressive. The design is almost organic, truly three dimensional. The ropes are intertwined with such detail and realism that you feel you can just pull on one and unravel the whole Star. It's hard to explain, but it's mesmerizing to look at. I turned over the Star and stared at it from each angle. Even the side! Nobody really looks at the side of a pendant, but with this one you will. The other detail that you can't see in the pictures is the "black" or "antique" finish. It's perfect. It adds "gravitas" to the design and makes it look timeless. The pendant is thick, sturdy, heavy and VERY SUBSTANTIAL. The size is large, but just perfect. 1.5 inches for the Star, including the bale you get to 1.75 inches. If you think it's too big, don't. You don't expect something to be large yet elegant and not overwhelming. I guess that the soft lines of the ropes and the antique finish help making the whole design large yet soft, almost understated. The bale for this pendant is also very different, I have never seen any other like it. Needless to say, my kids were both very happy. This is definitely a unisex piece and the fact that they both can wear the same pendant makes it even more special to me.
I was so satisfied with this Star, that I got the more expensive version of it for myself.
It's basically the same size Star with a large, open-link matching silver chain. It still came with the extra rubber cord, but I really like the matching chain they send with it. Since I haven't seen a chain quite like it anywhere else, I suspect it was custom designed to go with the pendant as it matches the Star so perfectly. I again apologize for the very long review. I have looked for so long for a "Family Keepsake" with spiritual meaning and I am so passionate about it now that I have found it. I've been wearing my Star for a while now and I've gotten so many compliments on it already. People can't help themselves, they ask about it, and like to stare at it and touch it.
They ask who the designer is and where they can get one just like it.
I haven't told them where I bought my Star. They all assume I got it from an expensive jewelry store in the city. However if any of my friends are reading this now, then I guess my secret is out! If you want a pendant to keep forever, a family heirloom, than this is it. Get it and you will see exactly what I mean!
